Carrots

After weeks of trying to grow carrots and only succeeding in carrots shaped like this:

And this....

and this.. yikes! It looks a bit like a sea creature!

We finally grew a straight carrot!

Well, straightish anyway...

Here's a photo of a poppy from our garden

Shelob!

We have our very own backyard Shelob.  Very disgusting, but very fascinating also.

Lena och Lennart komma på besök!

Lena and Lennart came for a visit about a month ago.

They arrived in true Fort McMurray style:

While they were here we took them to the Oil Sands Discovery Centre where they took a turn stirring bitumen:

and... tried to drive a heavy hauler:

and of course left a little momento as many before have done:

I sure hope that sign doesn't say anything important!

We also took them to see the buffalo...

and showed them what most of the world thinks Fort McMurray looks like:

We watched the World Cup:

and Roger made his delicious pannkakor for breakfast:

Tack för att besöka Lena och Lennart, vi får se dig i Sverige!

(that's them signing our guest book!)

Tornado

A tornado hit our house this weekend.  It looked like this:

and this:

and this....

when the tornado had blown itself out it looked like this:

Anyways, we had a great weekend with good food.  Mommy made Kueh Dada which was really delicious.

and Robyn came over-here's her playing with our wine bottle opener again.  I think this is the ONLY reason why she comes over for supper!

By the way, remember our vegetable garden?

Well, this is what it looks like now.  Look at that zucchini grow!

and look at this bizarre looking spider..
