Morning Glories

When we arrived back home from Iceland and Sweden, our morning glories were just getting ready to bloom.
Unfortunately we only had 3 or 4 blooms before the frost came and killed them all.
Better luck next year.

Stockholm

One very rainy morning, we decided to take the train into Stockholm from Västerås.

Kerstin and Mamma G buying train tickets.

When we arrived in Stockholm, we somehow managed to find and meet up with Peter in the hustle and bustle of the train station.

We walked to The Palace for the changing of the guard.
A bit anti-climactic, but they had a nice bathroom in the palace.

We walked around Gamla Stan

Ducked into Ahlens for lunch and to dry off.
Köttbullar with lingonberries and a Sarah Bernhardt.

After lunch, Mamma G had us choose a treat at this cafe.
It was the same cafe she used to come to with her mom for a slice of princess torte.

Then we took train, bus and foot to visit Peter's place.

By then, the sun started to come out, and we made our way back to Gamla Stan.

Stockholm was beautiful and I hope to be back.

Family and Food in Västerås

While in Västerås, we had the opportunity to visit the non-vertically challenged part of our family.
We spent most of our time at Kerstin's cozy apartment where she delighted our stomach with some traditional Swedish eats.

Kessler stew

Kerstin's tomatoes and her new dishwasher.

Falukorv and chanterelles

Something Roger found at ICA
Glacebåt (ice cream boat)

My first real smörgås torta and more delicious European milk products!

Kerstin also helped satiate Roger's hankering for korv potatismos (mashed potatoes and sausage)

Making time for mazarin

Pizza night at Jonas, Kristine and Max's.

Taking pictures in the dark.

What the Swedes consider a "personal sized" pizza.

Taco night at Andreas, Johanna, Evelina and Humpus' house.

Evelina's football game.

Zlaten

Dinner at Lena and Lennart's

Touring their garden.

Mamma G and Kerstin going to town on Lena's gooseberry bush.
Leave some for the birds ladies!

The best smoked salmon I've ever tasted.

Retirement cake.

Lena and Lennart kindly took us to the airport on our last day in Sweden.

Acquiring a new family member.

Hope to see all of you in Canada soon!
